California Wine Dinner with Rich’s Famous Jambalaya – Round 2
May 29 @ 6:30 PM - 11:00 PM EDT
Come enjoy six California wines and dine on Rich’s Famous Jambalaya (with salad and bread)
while learning about the wines from Steve Nelson and David Cohen.
Wines scheduled to appear:
Trione Sauvignon Blanc – “bright aromas of Honeycrisp apple, lime, and orange blossom. The crisp, fruit driven palate explodes with layers of pineapple, passion fruit and peach, then finishing with a savory wet stone minerality.”
Carol Shelton Coquille Blanc – “Enticing nose of spicy pears and white peaches, almond paste/marzipan, a touch of honeysuckle perfume. Multi-dimensional (many layers), a hard-to-describe range of aromatics, intriguing, almost mysterious! In the mouth it is crisply dry yet creamy and round and full-bodied, with nice almond paste on crisp-yet-juicy pear fruit.”
Patricia Green Freedom Hill Pinot Noir – “a vibrant ruby/magenta color and is highly expressive in the glass, with notes of framboise, candied roses, sweet herbs, and fresh earth. It’s vibrant and energetic on the palate, with a ripe but more linear feel, finely coiled tannins, and a tapered finish. Drink it over the next 10 years.”
Runquist “Z” Massoni Ranch (Zinfandel) – “a ruby purple color of significant depth with garnet hues that carry an edge of carmine probably coming from the significant percentage of Petite Sirah in this year’s blend. Despite containing over 20% Petite Sirah, the aroma of this wine is loaded with classic Zinfandel fruit; boysenberry, black raspberry, and olallieberry. The focus is on succulent ripe fruit.”
Truchard Syrah – “Concentrated aromas of black plum, cassis, and ripe cherry; with hints of vanilla, leather, earth, and white pepper. The mouth is layered with bright, jammy flavors of boysenberry, blackberry, and red currants; followed by mineral and cracked black pepper. Mouth-filling tannins provide an opulent finish of fruit and spice.”
Truchard Cabernet Sauvignon – “deep in color and dominated by lush flavors of plum, berry and spice. 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec. This wine can age 10 to 15 years with proper cellaring but is drinkable now.”
